The live jambands in Holland podcast Episodes 83a, 83a and 83c features the show Gov’t Mule did in Amsterdam on July 12th. I am definately a Warren Haynes fan, so I am sure this show will be on my mp3 player for a while ;).

Wilco, Sun Volt
Haven’t mentioned anything music related lately. That is mainly because I mostly listen to podcasts these days, but I managed to check out two new albums by two related Alt-Country artists. I would certainly recommend them if you like that kind of music:
– Sky Blue Sky by Wilco
– The Search by Jay Farrar’s Son Volt
I especially like The Search, it gets better and better each time you play the album. It’s been on my mp3 player for quite a while now ;).
Needless to say the two bands are closely related, if you want to read a bit more on their history, check out the Uncle Tupelo’s wiki page.
Search Wilco on bt.etree.org for torrents on live performances.
Jeff Tweedy Soundboard Recording 3/3/2007 on bt.etree.org, 3cd’s filled with goodness 😉 .
The Who
Probably the best thing I’ve seen on YouTube thanks to http://merlin.tumblr.com/, that I found through Leo Laporte’s blog ;).
Adrina Thorpe
Found a very nice new artist on podshow.com. Think Adam Curry played some of her songs before, and maybe I heard her in some other podcasts as well. Especially check out her excellent song Sorry !
Grateful Dead’s Legacy in good hands
The remaining members of The Grateful Dead have finally made a deal licensing their entire (and huge I might add) vault and all rights of merchandise etc to Rhino. I hope we can look forward to some interesting stuff being released on line soon. There is a great article explaining the deal at Marin Independent Journal.
A 10-year licensing deal entrusts Rhino with the management of all of the band’s intellectual property, including its vast archive of unreleased live concert recordings, its official Web site (deadnet), the marketing and merchandising of T-shirts and other clothing and gear with the Grateful Dead brand, logo and likeness, plus videos, CDs and the all-important digital domain – sales of the band’s music via download over the Internet.
While it’s still legal ;), there is a nice compilation of ‘Jerry Ballads’ posted on bt.etree.org. Highly recommended ! I converted them to mp3 to play on my iPod to listen to on my way to work and it brightened up my day ;).
Johnny Cash – American V:A Hundred Highways
What a great cd :). Will write more soon ! My favourite is the cover of Gordon Lightfoot’s “If you could read my mind”.
[audio:https://www.greendale.tk/mp3/CouldRead_clip.mp3]Roger McGuinn
Very nice article in the Ledger on Roger McGuinn. He’s releasing a cd compilation of the songs he has released through his website. They are usually traditionals given the ‘McGuinn’ treatment ;). Once saw the guy live with Bob Dylan back in 1987 ! Very nice stuff indeed…
Investigation of Sony BMG and Warner
Interesting article at ABC news. Got the link through Adam Curry’s weblog.
New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer said record company documents obtained in the investigation of Sony BMG and Warner revealed payments for songs that became major hits, including Jennifer Lopez’s “I’m Real.”
Not really surprising, didnt everybody suspect this all along ?
